For Ranges & Clubs

Fair questions. Straight answers.

Every question below came from a real range owner. If yours isn't here, ask us — a real person answers at partners@claypass.com, and none of this requires a sales call to understand.

The money

What it costs, what we take, and how we make ours.

Q"What's the catch — what do you take from my counter?"

Nothing. You keep 100%. Shooters pay you directly at your counter, at prices you set — ClayPass never touches the transaction, takes no commission, and holds no payout you have to chase. It's in the partner terms, in writing.

How we make money: shooters pay us a monthly membership for access to the network. Your register is not our business model.

Q"So what does listing cost me?"

Nothing — the listing is free, permanently. Free page on the national map, free booking and QR check-in, free promotion of your events. Optional paid extras exist (like a branded storefront for your own website), but nothing you need to get shooters through the gate.

Q"Is this another Groupon?"

The opposite. No public discounts, no coupon codes, no one-time bargain hunters, no revenue share on redemptions. Your posted price stays your posted price — shooters who find you through ClayPass pay it directly at your counter, with pricing set and controlled by you.

Your members & your rates

No price wars, no dilution — by design.

Q"Won't this undercut my own members?"

Nothing to undercut — you're never required to discount. Shooters who come through ClayPass pay your normal pricing, set and controlled by you, so your own members keep every advantage they already have.

It's all your call: offer a first-visit intro or a slow-weekday perk if you want to, or nothing at all, and set any limits you like. ClayPass brings you new, full-price guests who'd otherwise never have found you.

Q"I don't want a price war with the range down the road."

Neither do we, and it's designed out: we never rank, sort, or advertise ranges by price. Ranges on ClayPass compete on experience — photos, reviews, perks, events — exactly where a better operation wins.

And the demand we create is new demand: first-timers, travelers, and members shooting more often because they're subscribed — not customers poached from your neighbor.

Q"We run multiple membership tiers. How does that work?"

You choose which of your tiers a ClayPass visitor is treated as — one rate, entirely your call. Your premium tiers, member-only ranges, times, and perks stay members-only. And every ClayPass visitor who falls in love with your club is a warm lead for your own membership program.

Q"What does the perk cost me?"

Whatever you decide — you choose the perk and you cap it. Most partners start with something near zero marginal cost: the first-visit intro rate, or a little extra time on a slow weekday. It's a hook that turns a first-timer into a regular — and eventually into your own member.

Guests, verification & the door

Who walks in, what they pay, and who decides.

Q"Can members bring friends? Who sets the guest price?"

You do — completely. You decide whether guests are welcome, how many per booking, and what they pay: your normal walk-in rate, or your own guest price (a day fee, a package — your call). Guests pay you at the counter and sign your waiver, like any walk-in.

Plus/Pro members carry a few monthly guest passes (one guest at the member's rate) — but those only apply if you opt in. Either way, the check-in screen tells your desk exactly what to charge, and every logged guest becomes a tracked lead: they get one invite to join ClayPass, and repeat guests get flagged as candidates for your own membership.

Q"How do I know someone at my counter is really a member?"

Two ways, both instant: members check in with a QR code (the screen shows your desk their name, plan, what to honor, and whether your waiver is signed), and your dashboard has a two-second member verify for anyone who just walks in claiming it. No honor system, no arguing.

Q"We're a private, members-only club."

You stay that way. ClayPass visitors arrive as vouched, verified guests — like a sponsored guest day — and you still decide who walks in, every time. Many private clubs use ClayPass purely as a pipeline of future member candidates they get to meet before anyone commits.

Q"What about my waiver, my insurance, my liability?"

Nothing changes. Every shooter — member or guest — signs your waiver under your procedures, and you keep the absolute right to refuse anyone. ClayPass operates nothing on your grounds, supervises no one, handles no firearms, and processes no range payments.

We'll give you a one-page letter for your insurance carrier saying exactly that, before you ask.

Versus Google (and the Yellow Pages)

"I'm already findable — why you?"

Q"People already find me on Google. How is this different?"

Google shows a stranger a map, once — right next to every competitor's ad. ClayPass sends you a paying member: someone already paying monthly to shoot, who books before they leave home, arrives verified, and has rewards and streaks pulling them back next month. Google can't book a lane, verify a shooter, retain a customer, or show you the revenue it drove you. We do all four.

Q"Most of my customers are local, though."

Local is your base — travelers are the customers you're missing today. Google only works for someone who's already standing near you and thinks to search "ranges near me." ClayPass members plan the other way around: heading to your city for work, a wedding, a weekend, they open the map before the trip, see your range at the destination, and book it into their plans in advance — a paying shooter who'd otherwise never have known you exist. Nobody searches "clay range near me" for a city they haven't reached yet; they plan it beforehand, and that's the customer we hand you.

Q"Why would a shooter use ClayPass instead of Google?"

Because it's where shooters plan. ClayPass gives them one trusted place to find accurate, verified club info, events and lessons — near home or wherever they travel — which a plain Google listing can't. A shooter planning a trip opens the app first, and your verified listing is what they find.

Q"So you're just the old Yellow Pages."

The Yellow Pages' job ended when the phone rang. Ours starts there: the member is subscribed monthly, earns rewards for coming back, tracks visits in their shooter's passport, gets invited to your events — retention is the product. Your dashboard shows every returning visit and every dollar we drove, so you never have to take our word for it.

Q"How many members do you have near me?"

Honest answer: we're building your area right now, and ClayPass is largely pre-launch. Listing costs you nothing, so your verified info is already there when shooters arrive, while we invest in building demand in your region. Verifying your listing today means shooters see your correct hours, disciplines and events from day one.

Running it day to day

Effort, classes, and the exit door.

Q"We don't have time for another system."

Fifteen minutes, once. We build your page, load your rates, and print your counter card — you make five decisions on one call (your rate, your fences, your perk, your guest policy, your waiver link). Day to day it's a QR scan at the counter. No POS integration, no software install, nothing new for staff to learn.

Q"Can I promote my classes, leagues, and events?"

Yes — free. Post classes, first-timer nights, leagues, and events with capacity and a bookable slot; ClayPass puts them in front of members and newcomers near you. Brand-new shooters looking for instruction are routed toward exactly these. Want a branded events + signup hub on your own site or domain? That's the optional storefront add-on.

Q"What happens right after I register?"

1) You're in immediately — your login is emailed the moment you claim your page. No call, no approval queue. 2) About 15 minutes to finish. We've already drafted your page; an assistant in your dashboard walks you through the rest and takes your hours, prices, perk and policies in plain English — type them the way you'd say them. 3) You set your rate, fences, perk and guest policy — and change any of it later, as often as you like. 4) You go live on the map, and your counter kit (QR card + a one-page staff cheat-sheet) follows.

Q"What if we want out?"

Leave anytime. No lock-in contract, no penalty, no notice period. Your listing comes down on request, and your customers stay your customers — we never sell your data or theirs.
